Quick Installation Kits for Magnetic Door Strips: What’s Included?
A useful magnetic PVC doorway kit starts with the opening, not a generic parts list. Confirm the panel system, rail interface, fastening boundary, packing map and installation owner before comparing offers.
“Kit” can mean different things across quotations. One offer may stop at pre-assembled panels and a rail; another may add plates, fasteners, packing labels or a spare set. A disciplined request makes those differences visible before the parts reach the site.
01 · Define the word “kit”
Start with a Supply Boundary, Not a Catalog Label
For a magnetic doorway, the kit is an agreed project boundary. It should name every part supplied, every part excluded, and every interface that must be prepared by someone else.
Doorway assembly
List the left and right panels, the declared magnetic closing-edge construction, top attachment method and any bottom or side components that are actually part of the approved configuration.
Buyer check
Ask whether the drawing identifies handedness, finished dimensions and the location of the closing reference line.
Suspension assembly
Identify the rail or header profile, plates or carriers, joints, end pieces and the required fixing orientation. A rail name alone does not prove compatibility with the proposed panels.
Buyer check
Match the rail profile to the panel attachment and the available fixing plane before ordering.
Site interface
Separate supplied hardware from anchors, drilling, shims, access equipment, power isolation, local permits and labor. These responsibilities belong in the quotation and installation plan.
Buyer check
Record the substrate and the party who approves and performs site work.
02 · Input before component selection
Capture the Doorway Data That Controls the Kit
A parts list cannot correct a missing survey. Measure the clear opening and document what the installer can actually fasten to.

Opening and frame
Record width at more than one position, height, diagonals, frame depth, header condition, jambs, threshold and nearby doors or equipment.
Mounting plane and substrate
Photograph the intended fixing zone. Note steel, concrete, timber, insulated panel, cladding or another condition, plus restrictions that affect drilling or load transfer.
Passage pattern
Describe pedestrians, carts, pallets, equipment envelopes, direction, frequency and what may strike or catch a panel. The traffic record informs the installation and acceptance plan.
03 · Core components
Separate the Curtain Assembly from the Mounting Assembly
This separation makes missing scope visible. It also stops a buyer from treating conventional overlapping strips as interchangeable with a paired magnetic center-closing doorway.
| Component group | What to identify | Question that prevents scope gaps |
|---|---|---|
| Paired panels | Panel code, side, finished size, top attachment and visible edge construction | Are left and right parts identified separately and linked to the correct drawing revision? |
| Magnetic closing edge | Location, mating relationship, joining method and replacement identifier | Does the quote describe the exact edge system rather than only saying “magnetic”? |
| Rail and carriers | Profile, sections, joints, end treatment, carrier/plate type and mounting orientation | Does the proposed rail accept the declared panel attachment? |
| Fixing interface | Supplied fasteners, exclusions, substrate assumption and installation responsibility | Who verifies the substrate and provides any site-specific anchor solution? |
| Packing and documents | Pack count, labels, component map, drawing revision and receiving record | Can the receiver reconcile each carton without guessing? |
04 · Rail and header
Confirm the Rail, Carrier and Header Interface as One System
Rails, plates and panels must be examined together. A visually similar rail may use a different hook, plate, carrier spacing or mounting direction.

Profile compatibility
Request profile drawings or controlled photographs that show the rail, carrier and panel top attachment together. Identify each part number or drawing designation.
Do not assume
A nominal rail material or length does not establish compatibility with an unrelated curtain assembly.
Section joins and ends
When a header needs more than one rail length, ask how the sections meet, how ends are treated and whether the drawing shows the connection position.
Receiving check
Count rail sections, join parts and end parts separately from panel packs.
Fixing orientation
Specify whether the intended installation plane is face, reveal, ceiling or another project-specific arrangement. The approved drawing should make the reference plane clear.
Site check
Confirm that doors, ductwork, light fittings and access hardware do not occupy the fixing zone.
05 · Closing-edge control
Specify the Magnetic Closing Edge without Guessing at a Performance Result
The visible center edge is only one part of a working doorway. Alignment, panel geometry, header level, threshold condition and traffic all affect what is observed after passage.

Describe both mating sides
Record which left and right edges are intended to meet, how they are identified and whether the pairing has a drawing or sample reference.
Protect the center line in transit
Ask how panels are separated, rolled or supported for packing so the receiver can inspect the edge condition against the packing record.
Define replacement at system level
A replacement request should include handedness, panel code, edge identifier, rail relationship and installed drawing revision—not merely “a spare magnet.”
06 · Fixing responsibility
Make Fasteners, Anchors and Site Preparation Explicit
A kit may include certain fasteners, but only the responsible site party can verify the actual substrate, concealed services, local rules and access conditions. Do not convert a generic screw list into an anchoring approval.
Supplied hardware
Itemize what is supplied by type and quantity. Label any hardware that is specific to the rail or panel system, and separate it from general site fixings.
Site-provided items
List anchors, shims, sealants, lifting equipment, drills, safety controls and access equipment only when their supply and use are assigned to a named party.
Installation authority
State who verifies the mounting plane, decides on drilling, performs installation, witnesses alignment and signs the completion record.
07 · A practical kit review
Use a Five-Step Kit Completeness Check
This is a review sequence, not an installation instruction or a promise that every project needs the same items.
Survey opening2
Approve drawing3
Itemize boundary4
Map packing5
Receive and reconcile
1. Survey opening
Collect measured dimensions, fixing-plane details, access constraints and traffic information before asking what “complete” means.
2. Approve drawing
Use a controlled drawing to connect the panel arrangement, center edge, rail, mounting plane and supplied component identifiers.
3. Itemize boundary
Put supplied, excluded and site-provided work in distinct quotation lines. Do not hide exclusions in a generic installation note.
4. Map packing
Plan carton or bundle labels so long rails, panels, small hardware and documents can be found and counted on arrival.
5. Receive and reconcile
Compare contents and labels to the approved record before installation. Photograph discrepancies and assign a disposition owner.
08 · Packing and receipt
Ask for a Packing Map That a Receiving Team Can Use
Long components, clear panels and small hardware are easy to confuse once cartons are opened. A packing map gives receiving staff a practical audit trail.
| Pack type | Label information | Receiving action |
|---|---|---|
| Panel pack | Project reference, side/handedness, panel identifier and drawing revision | Check count, visible edge condition and packing separators before unrolling. |
| Rail bundle | Profile/section identifier, length as quoted, bundle number and join/end parts | Count sections and small components against the pack map. |
| Hardware pack | Item description, quantity, intended assembly and carton number | Keep sealed until reconciliation; record shortages separately from site-provided anchors. |
| Document pack | Drawing revision, packing list, inspection or handoff records where applicable | File it with the project record before parts are mixed into site stock. |
09 · Installation handoff
Plan the Installation Sequence before the Kit Arrives
The article does not replace a project-specific installation method. It helps a buyer assign the information and decisions that an installer needs.
Verify the site before unpacking
Confirm the opening, mounting plane, access route, work-area controls and drawing revision. Escalate departures rather than altering parts without a record.
Keep components traceable
Keep left/right panels, rail parts, hardware packs and documents linked to their identifiers until the installation record is complete.
Agree acceptance observations
Define the represented traffic case, the people who observe it, the facts to record and the person authorized to accept or reject a departure.
10 · Spares and service
Order Spares by Identifiers, Not by a Generic Name
A spare is useful only if a future team can link it to the installed system. The request should recover the configuration, not merely a material category.

Panel identifiers
Keep side, finished dimensions, attachment method, edge construction and the installed drawing revision with the spare record.
Rail-related parts
Identify rail profile, carrier or plate style, joint and end pieces before adding service stock. Similar-looking hardware may not interchange.
Replacement decision
Document who assesses damage, approves a replacement, performs the work and checks the resulting assembly against the represented configuration.
11 · Quote comparison
Compare Supplier Offers Line by Line
The lowest apparent kit total may omit rail sections, small components, packing controls, site anchors, installation labor or documentation. Normalize the scope before comparing commercial totals.
Use one buyer-owned schedule
Issue the same drawing revision, component table, packing request and installation boundary to each supplier. Give suppliers a column for deviations and exclusions.
Separate proposal from confirmation
A stated material, part or service becomes part of the project record only when it is shown in the accepted quotation, drawing and applicable supporting documents.
Price the overlooked work visibly
Show survey, site preparation, anchors, access equipment, installation, inspection, spares and destination handling as separate responsibilities where relevant.
12 · RFQ prompt
Put These Questions into a Magnetic Doorway Kit RFQ
A concise, documented request makes it easier for a supplier to state what is offered and for the buyer to compare it responsibly.
Opening package
Provide dimensions, photographs, mounting plane, substrate description, threshold, obstructions, temperature context, users and traffic pattern.
Requested supply schedule
Ask for panels, closing-edge construction, rail, carriers/plates, joins, end pieces, hardware packs, packaging and documents as distinct lines.
Responsibilities and evidence
Ask the supplier to identify assumptions, exclusions, site-provided work, drawing revision, part codes, packing map and any evidence that actually represents the proposed construction.
13 · Evidence boundary
Keep Installation Claims Tied to the Represented Doorway
A component photo, generic assembly description or catalog label does not prove installation suitability, anchoring approval, closure outcome, temperature control, energy result, safety function or regulatory compliance for another location.
What belongs in the project file
Opening survey, drawing revision, component schedule, panel/edge identifiers, rail interface, site responsibility, packing map, acceptance record and any applicable evidence.
What needs a qualified decision
Substrate suitability, anchoring method, work-area controls, local code obligations, workplace risk assessment and any claim that depends on conditions beyond the stated configuration.
Why this protects procurement
It prevents a preliminary photo or generic part list from silently becoming a promise that was never reviewed for the buyer’s actual doorway.
Buyer FAQ
Questions Buyers Ask About Magnetic Door-Curtain Installation Kits
Is a magnetic PVC doorway kit a universal set of parts?
No. The supply boundary should be defined against the approved opening, mounting plane, panel arrangement, magnetic-edge construction, rail profile, fastening responsibility and installation plan.
Should anchors and site drilling be assumed to be included?
No. Identify the substrate, access restrictions, local requirements and the party responsible for anchors, drilling and installation before comparing a quotation.
What identifies a useful spare-part request?
Use the installed drawing revision, handedness, panel or edge identifier, rail profile and pack quantity. A generic request for a magnetic strip may not identify a compatible replacement.
What photographs help define an installation kit?
Provide complete opening views from both sides, header and jamb close-ups, threshold and floor condition, nearby obstructions, mounting plane, dimensions and access-equipment constraints.
